The Baltimore Checkerspot ranges from Maine down to parts of Mississippi, Alabama and Georgia, up and over to Missouri and up through Wisconsin and into parts of Canada. Its range runs into parts of 27 states, more than half of the states of the U.S.
There are two good map websites for information;
http://www.butterfliesandmoths.org/
Butterflies and Moths of North America
Click on "Map Search", then on the drop down list, select your state, then
in the butterfly species list, select the Baltimore Checkerspot if it is listed. This will
show you the distribution in your state. There is also some good natural
history there (nectar, flight periods, etc.)
http://www.nationalatlas.gov/natlas/Natlasstart.asp
On the right select, "Biology", then select "Butterflies", next you want to
check "Butterfly Distribution", then use the drop down box under "Individual
Butterfly Species Distribution", select "Baltimore", wait a few seconds
after making this selection and then go over and click on the east coast
section of the US map. This will give you the distribution areas of the Baltimore
Checkerspot.
